| This was the outfit, which caught my attention! |
Here is a selection of Mr Nobles work, he has been commissioned by a range of creatives to make stage outfits for them, including Paloma Faith, Florence Welsh and my idol Lady Gaga. Man I need to dress that Bitch! He has also designed and styled a range of sets including Lovebox Festival and the EMA after show party, he also works closely with a range of film producers and photographers. He makes a lot of commissioned pieces. As well has having his own collection each season. He's one very busy man!
Alex was commissioned to make this piece for Lady Gaga for the 2010 Brit awards. He teamed up with Nicola Formichetti and Philip Treacy who did the head pieces. As you can see on stage it looks breathtaking even magical, as she doesn't look real!
He also worked on her recent Monster Ball tour outfits. It was this one that sealed the deal! It was called the Sacred Heart Gold Chimera. The hood is chain mail, dripping down to a crystal and bead sacred heart, bleeding down to a hairy crotch. The sleeves are made from feathers and layers of hair! Just my cup of tea!
These rather Fabulous feather horns were also wore!

Lady Gaga's Cannes Film Festival commisioned piece, was also pretty major!

I could talk about Gaga until I was blue in the actual face, but Ill move on to another creative force who have been lucky to have Mr Noble design for them...Florence Welsh. This is a recent collaboration, for her Ceremonials tour. He created a range of capes, cat suits, beaded harnesses and winged gowns with a dark deco glamour inspired twist.

Moving on from the most powerful women in the new generation of music, Mr Noble also has his own collection each season. However last season saw him showing at London Fashion Week, for his S/S 2012 "House of Women" collection. Which was inspired by the Powell and Pressburger film 'The Black Narcissus' which is a story about a group of nuns who's beliefs, morals and sanity are challenged as they establish a sanctuary in the Himalayan mountains. This new tribe of women, caught between their sisterhood and the embrace of their new cultural surroundings represent a new sexuality, femininity and power. Themes of Agony and Ecstasy, Sacrifice for Beliefs, and Renunciation are explored and the nuns of the house of Women are likened to Geishas. Japanese screen prints inspired the seasons palette of burnt orange and prussian blues and silhouettes influenced by Kimono and traditional Samurai armour.

The last three images were taken from Alex's live presentation for London Fashion week "Soft Death" A/W 2011. As you can see the collection was high couture, and all about a dark beauty. I love it!
Anyway I could go on and on and on about all the breath-taking work Mr Noble has produced, in fact I could create whole blog about him. But I would defiantly advise anyone who reads this to check out his blog at http://allisalexnoble.blogspot.co.uk/
Now Lets go back to my very first day of work placement (God it feels like Im part of the furniture now!!).....
So my first morning I can honestly say I didn't feel nervous at all, Saskia, Alex's fabulous P.A had been amazing through the emails we had been sending previously. She had instantly put me at ease by putting kisses at the end of each email. (Stupid as it sounds, I know. I just like kisses!!) The most important thing was what the HELL do I wear?! After half an hour and the content of my wardrobe on my bed I settled for an oversized black shirt, silver crucifix chocker and spray on black skinnys.....
It was 25 past ten when I knocked on the studio door, which is based in Hackney, to be greeted by Saskia and she was everything I could have imagined! She then took me into the studio which Alex shares with Joe a photographer, who he works with. The studio is small and intimate, and packed with loads of stuff, I mean its inspiring as soon as you walk in! I was then greeted by Alex, which was like meeting a celebrity in a way, as I highly admire his career and what he stands for as a designer and artist. He then wanted to look through my portfolio and talk through my strengths and weaknesses. he seemed really impressed with the body of work which I took and the fact that I have my own distinct vision, which was really awesome to hear. He then went through everything he is currently working on and everything which I would be getting involved with which was basically everything which was super exciting, as it made me feel like I was part of the team rather than just a regular intern!
After coffee and a chat me and Saskia cleaned out and arranged the super large cupboard and all the previous props he had made and used within previous shoots and exhibitions. We then had a super healthy lunch (something I'm not used too as its usually coffee and a fag!)
After Lunch me and Saskia set out doing research into props we could use for the up and coming Teppanyaki photoshoot, which was a photoshoot Alex had been commissioned to do for a set of cruise ships, with a Chinese concept. The set of images which he produced was then going to be painted by commissioned artists and used on the actual ships......
To be continued......
