So for the second week of my placement I was with Saskia helping her install the next exhibition at Dalston Superstore. It was a week of long long days, getting up at 5 in the morning and not getting home until 9 at night. But I can honestly say we had so much fun. It was so interesting to see how much work, time and effort goes into the installation of it all, and how many weeks of planning it takes to put on the show, which changes every six months.
It was also inspiring to see what the artists had produced to fit the concept of the exhibition and how they had all produced something totally different to fit the brief. Here is a selection of the work, which featured in the previous exhibition "Creative Pane".
Creative Pane looks at the idea of looking in through a window to a persons studio space. The artists were each given an old window frame for them to recycle and produce a representation of their studio space.
Here are a selection of some of the artist who exhibited:
| "A view from within" mural by James Andrews |
| "Mind Map" Georgia Gendall |
| "Desk" Naomi Bird |
| "Gone with the wind" Jack Duffy |
| "Like Clockwork" Luke Embden |
| "I made them. They made me" Alex Noble |
| Saskia Wickins |
It was my job to assist Saskia taking down the previous exhibition and wrapping up the artwork so the artists could collect it. Saskia did introduce me to everyone who came to pick up their work. But I can't remember any of them if my life depended on it. Im lying I remember Jack as he had fabulous mustard nail varnish on!!
Once the old exhibition was down it was in with the new. "States" by Jacob Love....
