The day of the Shoot.....

The day of the photo shoot soon arrived, its hard to believe that the weeks of preparation was all for this day!
It was 9 0'clock when I arrived with a van full of everything we had got for the shoot, at Hoxton studios. To begin with I helped unload everything into the most beautiful studio known to man, before Alex and Saskia arrived to give me my orders for the day. On the call sheet I was actually listed as Alex's second assistant with my number and everything, It felt soooo good!
Once the models arrived it was straight into hair and make-up for them while Joe the photographer (who shares Alex's studio) set up with his assistants. The room was buzzing, there was a real positive and exciting vibe in the air.
Anyway I was the runner for the day, after unpacking all the props and steaming the kimonos, I went out to buy all the final bits and bobs we had forgot such as white tights (which are like gold dust, nowhere and I mean nowhere sold them!) and leather flip flops. Once I got back all the portrait shots had been taken and the models were back in hair and make-up for the next set of images, it was time to assist Alex building the set. Its actually amazing how the blank, white canvas was transformed into a Chinese tea party! I also assisted the models getting ready before the second set of photographs were taken.
Once Alex and Joe was happy with the images the models went back into hair and make-up while we built the next set which featured chinese style screens and lots and lots of sprigs.
After going nearly two hours over our allocated time slot it was time to quickly pack everything away and head back to the studio, time certainly flies when your having fun!!
Here is a selection of backstage photographers which I took. I can't put the final images on until they have been published. But here is everyone at work. It was amazing to help Alex assist the shoot, as it was so good to see weeks and weeks worth of preparation finally come together and all the people from different creative areas come together to create a set of truly beautiful imagery.
