Teppenyaki

So its the week of the "Teppenyaki" photo-shoot, its going to be a very, very busy week doing the last minute preparations for it. I had to go back to all the original China shops I sourced the props from and collected everything which Alex wanted to feature in the shoot. I felt really excited about this as I had helped source everything which was going to be featured in the shoot. It took a full two days of doing this, as we needed to get so many lateens, fans, parasols, vases, sprigs of flowers, tea sets, kimonos and accessories. Its amazing how much discount you get in these shops when you are bulk buying. Its also made me appreciate the Chinese culture and how beautiful some of their trinkets are in the flesh. Once all the props were bought. I had to go to Shepherds Bush and source the fabrics which were going to be used to dress the sets with. I had to get samples from every store (and lie along the way to make the bitches give them me) and report back to Alex so he could put a sheet together of all the ones he wanted before I went back out to get all 75 meters of them!

Once we had got everything for dressing the set of the photo-shoot, I had to go to "Angels costumes" to pick up the kimonos which Alex had previously selected. Angels costume suppliers is situated in Hendon North London, it's the biggest costume hire suppliers in England and home home to every possible costume and historical costume you could think of. Its also the home to many, many famous costumes which have been used movies including StarWars, Titanic, Marie Antoinette Alice in Wonderland, Aviator, The Duchess, Elizabeth the Golden Age and The Young Victoria to name just a few.
I was really lucky to have a tour of the place, as its done strictly by appointment, however you can book in to have a site tour of it all, which I most certainly would recommend it, going through the rails upon rails of clothes is so much fun! You also get to go into the tailoring rooms and alteration rooms and see the people at work. It was so inspiring to see costumes actually worn in some of my favourite films. To be able to actually touch them is incredible, its really like inspiration at your finger tips. Its a little (okay massive) treasure trove. Photography wasn't allowed in the place so Ive took the following images from their website.....
